Fillers

In a facial aesthetic clinic, the term “fillers” refers to dermal fillers — injectable substances used to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles, enhance facial contours, and rejuvenate the skin’s appearance.
What are fillers?
Most fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that helps keep skin hydrated and plump. Other types include calcium hydroxylapatite and poly-L-lactic acid, but hyaluronic acid fillers are the most commonly used due to their safety and reversibility.
Common aesthetic uses:
- Lip enhancement (adding volume or defining the lip border)
- Under-eye hollows (tear trough correction)
- Nasolabial folds (smile lines or “laugh lines”)
- Jawline and chin definition (facial harmonization)
- Cheekbone enhancement (adding volume and lift)
- Temples, nose reshaping (non-surgical rhinoplasty), and facial contouring
Benefits:
- Immediate results
- Minimally invasive, quick procedure
- Effects typically last 6 months to 18 months, depending on the product and area treated
- Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme (hyaluronidase) if needed
Difference between fillers and Botox:
- Botox: relaxes facial muscles to reduce dynamic wrinkles (caused by movement)
- Fillers: add volume or fill in static wrinkles (visible even at rest)
